Error Message: Windows Live Messenger could not sign you in because the sign-in name you entered does not exist or your password is incorrect.
Reasons:
- You have entered an incorrect user ID or password.
- Your account has been locked out because you have tried to sign in too many times.
Resolutions:
Reset your password
1. Visit http://account.live.com
2. Enter the Windows Live ID that you use with Messenger and the correct password.
3. Click Change to reset your password.
If you can't sign in, reset your password via the forgot password way.
1. Visit http://account.live.com
2. Click Sign in with a different account.
3. Click Forgot password.
4. Follow the steps in the wizard.
After resetting your password, delete the saved credentials from Windows Live Messenger.
1. Open Windows Live Messenger.
2. Select your email address from the list and then click Forget Me.
3. Re-type your email and password and then sign in.
