Resolutions:
Firewall settings
1. Configure if Windows Live Messenger is blocked by your firewall.
2. Contact your manufacturer if you need further assistance.
Incorrect proxy settings
Clear the proxy settings in Internet Explorer:
1. Start Internet Explorer.
2. Click Tools, and then Internet Options.
3. Go to the Connections tab, and then click LAN Settings.
4. Make sure nothing is checked, and then click OK.
Clear the proxy settings in messenger:
1. Start Messenger, and then click Tools then Options.
2. Select the Connection tab.
3. Click Advanced Settings.
4. Nothing should be entered on these boxes except port 1080.
Re-register the DLL files that may be intefering with messenger.
1. Click Start, and then Run.
2. Copy and paste the following commands:
REGSVR32 softpub.dll initpki.dll wintrust.dll and then click OK.
3. Three pop ups should appear saying the files were registered correctly.
Scan your computer for spyware issues
1. Make sure that your anti-spyware program is always up-to-date. Note: Anti-spyware programs are different from an anti-virus programs. Some applications though may have both.
